Sport
At Tempe High School, sports are more than games, they're a vibrant tapestry of inclusivity, excitement, and boundless opportunities for every student to thrive. Join us in celebrating athleticism, teamwork, and the thrill of competition at our dynamic school.
Year 7 and 8 Gala Days
To ignite enthusiasm and a love for sports from an early age, Tempe High School hosts Year 7 and 8 Gala Days. These dynamic events offer students a chance to participate in a variety of sports such as vortex, frisbee, AFL, basketball, volleyball, European Handball, netball, and football. Held outside of school grounds, these gala days foster teamwork, confidence, and camaraderie as students compete against other schools in our zone. It's a rewarding experience that instills a lifelong passion for sport and a sense of belonging within our school community.

Carnivals - Swimming/Cross Country/Athletics
The heart-pounding action continues with our annual swimming, cross country, and athletics carnivals, where house points and spirit are paramount. These events not only showcase our students' athleticism but also their sportsmanship and support for one another. The victorious house claims the prestigious Victory Cup at our school assembly. Many of our talented athletes progress to Zone, Sydney East, and even NSW championships, seizing numerous opportunities to compete and excel.

Knockout Sport
Tempe High School's prowess shines in knockout sports, including U15 AFL, U15 netball, U15 Basketball, U15 Volleyball, opens basketball, touch, volleyball, football (soccer) and more. Over the past two years, our teams have reached the pinnacle, achieving Sydney East Grand Finals in AFL, football (soccer), and volleyball. These successes underscore our commitment to athletic excellence and spirited competition across diverse disciplines.
Tempe Elite Sports Volleyball Program
The Tempe High School Gifted and Talented Elite Sports Pathway for Volleyball was established in 2018 and has continued to thrive and grow every year since. With over 130 students in the program, we have groups training every morning at 7am and on two afternoons per week on both the indoor and outdoor courts. Students have the opportunity to represent the school at various competitions across the year, with the most prestigious and anticipated competition being AVSC (Nationals) on the Gold Coast at the end of each school year.
Our accolades are growing every year, with many of our students being selected to represent on the bigger stage, such as regional teams (Sydney East), State Teams (CHS Teams, Phoenix Teams) and even National Selection (All Australians, Playing for Australia). But our own achievements within the school are often our proudest moments, with our teams always being competitive and bringing home many medals in many different competitions such as school cups, CHS State Competitions and Zone competitions.
