Student Wellbeing Policy (pdf 1944 KB)

                             Year Advisor Policy

Year Advisors are responsible for wellbeing and its impacts on the learning of the students in their year group. They work closely with the school wellbeing team and classroom teachers. They are usually the first point of contact for parents in relation to any issue or problems about a student. Year Advisors are dedicated and an integral part of the school community. They work closely with staff and parents to provide the earliest possible intervention that prevents problems for their students.

Year Advisors should be contacted when:

  • Injury requiring time off or modified activities/movements around the school.
  • Medical conditions that may impact on students learning or general wellbeing.
  • Death/serious illness in the family or close friends.
  • Sudden, unexplained changes in behaviour.
  • Family holidays that may impact on assessment tasks or certain aspects of schooling.
  • Issues that develop with peers
  • Changes to family circumstances.

To allow staff to provide the best care and management of students it is often useful to know what is going on in their life outside of the school walls. If you consider that an event or ongoing issue may impact upon your child while at school, it would be beneficial to contact the Year Adviser so that they can raise an issue at the regular wellbeing meetings.
