Wellbeing

Student wellbeing at Tempe High develops in students attitudes of respect, responsibility, and relationships within our school community. Our school supports the personal, social and learning needs of our students and ensures their safety within an inclusive learning environment. Student wellbeing is reflected in the way we demonstrate care and provide opportunities for our students to be actively connected to their learning. Our students have positive and respectful relationships and enjoy a sense of belonging to their school and community. This is shown in the quality of our curriculum, which promotes connection, success and the opportunity to thrive.

Year Advisors

Year Advisors are responsible for wellbeing and its impacts on the learning of the students in their year group. They work closely with the school wellbeing team and classroom teachers. They are usually the first point of contact for parents in relation to any issue or problem a student faces. Year Advisors are dedicated and an integral part of the school community. They work closely with staff and parents to provide the earliest possible intervention that prevents problems for their students. Read more about who your child's year advisor is and how to contact them.

RIOT program – Year 7 2025

A whole-school community approach to be introduced to Year 7 2025  to reduce anxiety and build resilience. The RIOT Whole-School program takes a wrap-around approach to help Year 7 transition to high school by learning to develop skills to manage anxiety and build resilience by repeatedly engaging in 'coaching conversations' with their teachers.

The RIOT program, which stands for "Recognition, Insight, Open Communication, and Transition," assists students in various ways:

  1. Recognition of individual needs
  2. Insight into student behaviour
  3. Open communication with students
  4. Transition support

Overall, the RIOT program in schools assists students by providing them with the support, guidance, and resources they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
